Routines and Runs

Separate the saved schedule from each execution and its result.

A Routine saves instructions, an Agent, a schedule, and a destination. A Run records what happened for scheduled work. A skipped Run can summarize several missed occurrences.

Routine: weekly release summary
├─ Monday: Run → result in the selected conversation
├─ Next Monday: Run → result or failure
└─ Later Monday: skipped Run → reason in history

Schedule state is not result state

A one-time Routine can show Finished because its scheduled occurrence has been claimed. The Run may still be preparing or awaiting a result. Open the Run to see its outcome.

Pausing a Routine prevents future scheduling. It does not prove that already running work stopped. Use the running work's stop controls and check the outcome if you need it to stop.

Visibility is not the destination

Only me controls who can see the Routine definition and history. Send results to controls where its answer goes. Check both before saving: a personal Routine can still send its result to a shared Space.

An already claimed Run keeps its recorded destination when you edit the Routine. Look in that Run's destination for its answer, rather than assuming it used the latest settings.

Next: Schedule a Routine or Run status.
